The American Bighorn Sheep (Ovis canadensis), more commonly known as just the Bighorn Sheep, is a medium-sized North American ungulate. It is an adoptable animal in Zoo Tycoon and Zoo Tycoon DS.

The American Bighorn Sheep is a species of wild sheep native to the western regions of North America. It is named after the long curved horns of the male, or ram. Females, or ewes, also have horns, although they are much smaller. There are three different subspecies of bighorn sheep; the largest of these, the Rocky Mountain bighorn sheep, can weigh up to 230kg (500lb), with males being much larger and heavier than females.
Bighorn sheep live in a variety of habitats, but are most associated with the cooler mountainous regions of North America, typically preferring alpine meadows and grassy mountain slopes free of snow, where they will feed on grass and shrubs. They live in large herds that, unlike other species of sheep, do not follow a single dominant ram.

The American Bighorn Sheep is an adoptable animal in the original Zoo Tycoon and is available in the base game. In Freeform mode, it is not adoptable until March 1.
The American bighorn sheep is a Highland animal, particularly requiring a large amount of brown stone in its exhibit along with some grey stone, grass and fresh water. Like all highland animals, it requires elevation in its enclosure. Unlike many social animals, the American bighorn sheep's minimum social group contributes to its habitat suitability.
