The Axis Deer (Axis axis) is a mid-sized Asian ungulate. It is an adoptable animal in Zoo Tycoon: The Board Game.
Description[]
The axis deer, or Chital, is a moderately-sized member of the deer family. Males, or stags, can reach a shoulder height of 90cm (35in) and weigh up to 75kg (165lbs). Females, or does, are smaller and, like the majority of deer, lack the antlers present in the stag. White spots cover its entire upper body, giving it the alternative name of Spotted Deer.
The axis deer is native to the Indian sub-continent, although it has also been introduced into other countries. Active throughout the day, it typically lives in forested regions and gathers in large herds lead by an older female. They feed mainly on grass, but will eat a variety of vegetation, including fruits. Predators include the Bengal Tiger; in some regions, axis deer will associate with langur monkeys, with the two species combining their respective senses of smell and sight to detect approaching threats.
Zoo Tycoon: The Board Game[]
The axis deer is an adoptable animal in Zoo Tycoon: The Board Game. It is classed as a "Co-Species" ungulate and is adopted during the Autumn months.
The axis deer is a rainforest animal. As a co-species, it can be exhibited on its own or with a compatible main species, although as a larger animal, it requires extra space.
The axis deer is also part of the Ramganga national park conservation project, alongside the Asian Elephant, Tiger and Great Hornbill. Exhibiting all four species will give the zoo bonus conservation points.

- The axis deer was initially planned to reappear in Zoo Tycoon: The Board Game - New Shores, but was ultimately replaced with the Red River Hog.
