Bananas are a type of food item present in Zoo Tycoon 2, eaten by all frugivores in the game.

Bananas are a less popular food item among animals than you might expect. In fact, only the chimpanzee, gorilla and the ring-tailed lemur can be counted among this fruit’s fans. Bananas can be placed directly on the ground, or in an elevated or regular food dish. They can also be hidden in some containers to encourage exploring behavior in animals.

Trivia

• Though the Zoopedia mentions that only three animals eat bananas, giraffes, okapi and peafowl also eat them in the base game, and so do many animals introduced in later expansion packs such as the Baird's tapir, Barbary ape and dodo.
• Though the Zoopedia mentions it being available in the elevated food dish container, it is not.
