The Blackbuck (Antilope cervicapra) is a small Asian ungulate. It is an adoptable animal in Zoo Tycoon.
Description[]
The Blackbuck is an antelope native to India and Nepal. It is moderate in size, with individuals standing 84cm (33in) at the shoulder. Males are larger than the females and have a distinctive two-tone coloration, where the upper parts of the body are dark brown or black, whilst the underparts are white. Mature males also have long ringed horns that may reach up to 75cm (30in) in length. Females are lighter in color, having a yellowish-fawn upper body, and typically lack horns.
Blackbucks are found in grassy plains and lightly forested regions, although they are always found near water. Active during the day, they typically live in small herds of the same sex. They are herbivores, primarily feeding on grass, and can run up to 80km/h (50mph) when threatened. Although overhunting and habitat loss caused a sharp decline in the 20th century, the blackbuck is now protected in India, where hunting is prohibited.

The blackbuck is an adoptable animal in Zoo Tycoon. It is a downloadable animal. Each individual costs $600 to adopt in-game, making it one of the cheapest animals available.
The blackbuck is a savannah animal, with the only additional requirements being a small pool of fresh water. It is very social and requires at least four individuals in its exhibit to be happy. A female will give birth to a single young at a time.
