The Bonobo (Pan paniscus) is a medium-sized African ape. It is an adoptable animal in Zoo Tycoon (Xbox).

The bonobo is a Great Ape that is closely related to the Chimpanzee and together, they represent the closest living relatives of humans. Although previously referred to as the Pygmy Chimpanzee, the bonobo is not particularly smaller than its relative, with adult males reaching a standing height of 119cm (3.90ft) and with an average weight of 45kg (99lbs), with females being slightly smaller. The bonobo is more slender in appearance than the chimpanzee, with a smaller head, longer legs and a narrower build. It is believed that the bonobo evolved from chimpanzee populations separated by the formation of the Congo river around 2 million years ago.
The bonobo is endemic to the rainforests of the Democratic Republic of Congo, in Central Africa. It is an extremely social animal, living in large groups led by an experienced female, or matriarch. Unlike chimpanzees, bonobos rarely show aggression towards each other and frequently engage in sexual activity to form social bonds and resolve conflicts. Like chimpanzees, bonobos have an omnivorous diet that consists primarily of fruit and, like all great apes, they are highly intelligent.
Zoo Tycoon (Xbox)[]
The bonobo is an adoptable animal in the Xbox version of Zoo Tycoon and is available in the base game. It is available for adoption when a zoo reaches a fame rating of 3.
Like all chimpanzees, the bonobo is a Tropical Rainforest animal.
