The Caracal (Caracal caracal) is a mid-sized felid from Africa and Asia. It is an adoptable animal in Zoo Tycoon 2.
Description[]
The caracal is a wild cat that resembles a lynx, although it is not believed to be closely related. It can reach up to 50cm (20in) high at the shoulder and weigh up to 19kg (42lbs), with males being larger. Its name is Turkish for "cat with black ears" and refers to the distinctive black tufts on its large ears. Its legs are comparatively long for a cat its size.
The caracal is found primarily in Africa, the Middle East and regions of Central Asia, where it lives in a variety of habitats with a preference to dry areas with low rainfall and plenty of cover. Nocturnal and solitary, the caracal hunts a variety of prey and is capable of catching antelope three times its size. It is also able to catch birds in mid-flight by leaping up to 3m (10ft) into the air. In some regions, caracals are tamed and used for hunting.
Zoo Tycoon 2[]
The caracal is an adoptable animal in Zoo Tycoon 2 and was added as part of the African Adventure expansion pack. In Campaign and Challenge mode, it is available for adoption when a zoo reaches a rating of 4.5 stars.
The caracal is a Scrub animal. It can be fed on meat and fish.
