Description[]
The central chimpanzee or Tschego is a subspecies of the chimpanzee. The chimpanzee is a great ape and as such, it is one of the closest living relatives to humans. They are stocky primates, with coarse black hair covering their bodies. As with all apes except for humans, their arms are longer than their legs and they are adapted for life in the trees as well as on the ground, typically walking on their knuckles. Chimpanzees live in a variety of habitats, although they usually reside in rainforests. They are omnivorous and will take a wide variety of food, from leaves and bark to insects and smaller primates, but their main diet consists of fruits.
Chimpanzees are highly social animals, living in large groups typically lead by a dominant male. They will often groom each other to reinforce social bonds and communicate with each other using a wide variety of facial expressions and vocalizations. Chimpanzees are also known to be highly intelligent and have been shown creating and using tools, such as sticks to fish for termites and stones to crack open nuts.
The Central Chimpanzee occurs mainly in Gabon, Cameroon, and the Republic of the Congo, but also, to a lesser extent, in other regions.

The central chimpanzee is an adoptable animal in Zoo Tycoon (Xbox) and is available in the base game. It is one of the first animals available and the first chimpanzee to be adoptable.
