The Clouded Leopard (Neofelis nebulosa) is a mid-sized Asian felid. It is an adoptable animal in Zoo Tycoon and Zoo Tycoon DS.
Description[]
The Clouded Leopard is a species of wild cat native to the Southeastern regions of Asia, ranging as far west as the Himalayan foothills and as far north as China. It is a medium species of wild cat, ranging in size from 68 to 108 cm (27 to 42.5 in). The Clouded leopard lives in dense rainforests, spending most of the day resting in trees. Its paws can rotate to help it climb, its ankle joints able to rotate completely backwards and its 91cm (36in) tail helps it balance. The clouded leopard's name is believed to originate from the clouded spots on its coat.
Clouded leopards are nocturnal and hunt both on the forest floor and in trees, with prey including pheasants, monkeys, binturong and small deer. It kills prey using its unusually long canine teeth in proportion to its body size, which can reach 4cm (1.6in) in length or longer. Like most cats, clouded leopards are largely solitary, with adults coming together only to mate.
Zoo Tycoon[]
The Clouded Leopard is an adoptable animal in Zoo Tycoon and is available in the base game. In Freeform mode, it is not adoptable until December 1, making it one of the last obtainable animals. It features as an animal in the Forest Zoo and Saving the Great Cats scenarios, where an exhibit for it is required to pass.
The clouded leopard is a shy animal that will become crowded if there are too many guests. Privacy can be provided by limiting the amount of viewing areas guests can look into the exhibit, such as building an exhibit that is only visible from one side.
The Clouded Leopard is a Tropical Rainforest animal, but also likes some grass in its exhibit. Its favorite foliage is the Mangrove Tree. Like all big cats, the clouded leopard likes the rock shelter in its exhibit, although it will accept other shelters. It is one of the few animals to require an animal toy; the Cat Climbing Tree, a liking it shares with the Leopards.

The Clouded Leopard was a nominate species for Zoo Tycoon: The Board Game. It was part of the original vote used to determine the roster of the Additional Animal Pack, however it lost with only 162 votes (22.6% of votes cast). The clouded leopard had a second chance though during the bracket vote for the Additional Animal Pack, being pinned against the Straw-coloured Fruit Bat in the first round, though ultimately lost the round overwhelmingly with only 135 votes vs the 327 the fruit bat received.
The clouded leopard would've been a Level 2 animal in the Rainforest biome and classed as a Carnivore.
