The Common Raccoon (Procyon lotor) is a small North American mammal. It is an adoptable animal in Zoo Tycoon: The Board Game.

Description[]

The common raccoon, also known as just Raccoon, is the largest member of the procyonid family, a group of small carnivores distantly related to bears. It is a stocky animal identifiable by its thick gray fur, its short ringed fur and the prominent black "bandit mask" patch of fur on its white face. The Raccoon can be found across the United States of America, as well as southern Canada and Mexico, whilst populations have been introduced to other regions such as Europe and Japan.

Raccoons are omnivorous and opportunistic animals, eating anything they can find. They will often hunt near water, using its dexterous and sensitive digits to feel for prey amongst the rocks. They are also capable climbers and will climb trees in search of invertebrates, plants and occasional bird eggs. An intelligent and adaptable animal, the raccoon naturally lives in deciduous forests, but can also be found in urban regions. It features heavily in indigenous folklore.
