The Congo Lion (Panthera leo leo, formerly Panthera leo azandica) is a lion population found in the Northeast Congo and Uganda. It is an adoptable animal in Zoo Tycoon (Xbox).

Description[]

The Congo Lion also known as the Northeast Congo Lion or Uganda Lion is a population of Northern Lion living in the northeastern grasslands of the Democratic Republic of the Congo and in parts of Uganda, though it once also lived in the Northeast Congo Tropical Rainforests as well but is now locally extinct. The Congo lion is very difficult to distinguish from other lions, some say that they do not differ from other lions at all. It is unknown as to how many lions within this population exist in the wild; the Congo lion is also not present in captivity.

Zoo Tycoon (Xbox)[]

The Congo lion is an adoptable animal in Zoo Tycoon (Xbox) and is available in the base game. It is available for adoption when a zoo reaches a fame level of 31 and is the last lion to be unlocked.

The Congo lion is a Grasslands animal.

  • These Lions have a lifespan of around 10–12 in the wild.
  • Reintroduction of captive-born Lions back into the wild is often not very successful, meaning that the survival of the species is dependent upon keeping wild populations stable.
  • Individual Lions can be identified by whisker spots, which are as unique as finger prints.
  • Lions are most active in the late afternoon, and will socialize then with other members of their pride.
  • Lions in general have become Extinct in 80% of their historical range.
