The Costa Rican Cougar (Puma concolor couguar, formerly Puma concolor costaricensis) is a mid-sized Central American felid. It is an adoptable animal in Zoo Tycoon (Xbox).

The Costa Rican Cougar or Costa Rican Puma is a population of North American cougar in Central America that was previously regarded as a subspecies, under the trinomen Puma concolor costaricensis. It had been listed as least concern by the IUCN Red List before it was lumped into the North American populations, including the rare Florida Panther.
The Costa Rican Cougar is the second-largest cat in Costa Rica and can be nearly as large as Jaguars but are not as powerfully built. Adult Costa Rican cougars lack any spots and are uniform in colour, they live in the Costa Rican Tropical Rainforests and prey on deer, peccaries and primates, which helps keep their ecosystem balanced and prevent their prey from overgrazing; which helps promote plant growth and keep the forests healthy. Though, Costa Rican cougars may also scavenge Jaguar kills if given the chance.
The largest populations of Costa Rican Cougars can be found in the Santa Rosa and Guanacaste National Parks.
Zoo Tycoon (Xbox)[]
The Costa Rican Cougar is an animal available in Zoo Tycoon: Ultimate Animal Collection and becomes available at Fame level 14. They only eat meat and are a yellowish-tan in colour with yellow eyes. Kittens sport a pale-reddish coat with large, black spots and thin stripes on the tail. Like the other cougars in the game, the Costa Rican Cougar is a Tropical Rainforest animal, though can also tolerate the Temperate Forest, Grasslands and Savannah biomes. The Costa Rican Cougar has a melanistic variant that has a chance to be born when bred. The melanistic variant is identical to the two South American melanistic cougar variants, only being identifiable by its green eyes.
