The White Rhinoceros (Ceratotherium simum) is a large African ungulate. It is an adoptable animal in Zoo Tycoon 2 and Zoo Tycoon (Xbox).
Description[]
The white rhinoceros is the largest of five species of rhinoceros and represents the largest living land mammal after the elephants. Males are larger than females, reaching lengths of 4m (13.1ft) and weighing an average of 2300kg (5070lbs). One of two African species of rhino alongside the smaller Black Rhinoceros, the white rhinoceros can be identified by its wide, square-shaped mouth and hump on the back of its neck. Like the black rhinoceros, it possesses two horns on its head, the larger of which is around 60cm in length, but may be longer in females. Despite their names, both the white and black rhinoceros are a slate-gray in coloration.
The white rhinoceros is native to the savannah grasslands of southern Africa and is notably the only rhinoceros adapted for grazing, using their wide mouths to pluck the shortest grasses. It is more social than other rhinoceros species and may live in small groups, or "crashes", but if threatened will charge at up to 51km/h (30mph). There are two subspecies of white rhinoceros. The Southern White Rhinoceros is the most common rhinoceros subspecies in the world, numbering over 17000 after extensive conservation efforts. The Northern White Rhinoceros is functionally extinct, with only two known female individuals surviving as of 2018.
Zoo Tycoon 2[]
The white rhinoceros is an adoptable animal in Zoo Tycoon 2 and was added as part of the African Adventure expansion pack. In Campaign and Challenge mode, it is available for adoption when a zoo reaches a rating of 2.5 stars.

White rhinos are social animals but do not live in large herds. Females give birth to one calf at a time. They do not mind sharing their exhibit with other species.
