In Zoo Tycoon, the sloth was both quadrupedal and bipedal, so it could switch from walking with two legs or using all four of its limbs to move. In its exhibit, it requires grass, snow, and brown stone.
Zoo Tycoon 2
The giant ground sloth eats plants and meat. Unlike the previous sloth, this version is fully bipedal. As it is incredibly rare for them to get into fights, it is very difficult to determine their power. The female is somewhat larger than the male. It has a large horse-like head, long tufts on its ears, and principally orange-brown colouring. If it escapes, and encounters a guest, the guest will attempt to stroke it, only for the sloth to knock them over. This was titled by the animator as 'Something magical almost happens.... and then doesn't.' The giant ground sloth's main biome is scrub, but it can tolerate desert, grassland, and savannah to a degree.
- The giant ground sloth in the original Zoo Tycoon looks more realistic than the giant ground sloth in Zoo Tycoon 2. Its capability of walking on both two and four legs and the position of its feet, with hind legs that lie flat on the ground, is more accurate. The Zoo Tycoon 2 version is not as realistic, as its ear tufts and unusually-positioned feet is not commonly found in life restorations.
- Comparable to the Tyrannosaurus rex, the giant ground sloth is the most expensive official animal in Zoo Tycoon 2, costing $100,000 each.
