The Giant Pacific Octopus (Enteroctopus dofleini) is a large cephalopod from the northern Pacific. It is an adoptable animal in Zoo Tycoon and Zoo Tycoon 2: Marine Mania Mobile.

The giant Pacific octopus is the largest species of octopus. One of the largest recorded individuals weighed 71kg (156lb), although sizes may vary. Like all octopuses, it has eight arms covered in adhesive suckers, which it uses to catch prey and move around its environment. Large octopuses can have an arm-span of 6m (20ft). The giant Pacific octopus primarily feeds on crustaceans such as crabs, using its hard beak to crack open the tough shell of its prey. As the beak is the only hard part of an octopuses body, it can squeeze into any crevice it can fit its beak into in order to find prey or escape predators.
The giant Pacific octopus can be found in the northern Pacific, across the coasts of North America and Asia. It is adapted for life in colder water and can be found at depths of up to 2000m (6600ft). Like all octopuses, they are extremely intelligent, and captive specimens have been known to solve simple puzzles and use tools. Despite their large size, giant Pacific octopuses have a relatively short lifespan of around five years; females will only have one clutch of eggs and starve to death caring for them.
Zoo Tycoon[]
The Giant Pacific Octopus, referred to in-game largely as Pacific Octopus, is an adoptable animal in Zoo Tycoon and was added as part of the Marine Mania expansion pack. In Freeform mode, it is not adoptable until June 1.
Like all Marine Mania animals, the Pacific octopus is an Aquatic animal. It requires a deep tank that is at least 8 units deep, as well as a shelter, with its favorite being the Seafloor Cave, though it also likes the Sunken Ship shelter.
The giant Pacific octopus likes many different marine plants, getting the most suitability from the Tube Worm, Purple Sea Urchin, Brittle Sea Star, Sea Sponge, Orange Cup Coral, and Sea Anemone. It also requires many Small Ocean Floor Rock clusters to fulfil its habitat suitability. Unlike many aquatic animals, the giant Pacific octopus is able to max out its hunger need after feeding, making it easier to keep happy.
Zoo Tycoon 2: Marine Mania Mobile[]
The giant Pacific octopus is an adoptable animal in Zoo Tycoon 2: Marine Mania Mobile. It is the last animal the player can unlock in the game and is a Deep Water animal. The giant Pacific octopus eats shellfish and likes small rocks, barrel sponges, and sea anemones in its exhibit.
