The ibex (Capra ibex), also known as the alpine ibex, steinbock, or bouquetin, is a medium-sized ungulate. It is available in both Zoo Tycoon and Zoo Tycoon 2.
Description[]
The ibex is a species of wild goat that lives on the mountains of the European alps. Males can reach heights of up to 101 cm (40 in) at the shoulders, with females typically being smaller. Both males and females have large, backwards curving horns, although the horns of males are much larger than the females, reaching up to 98 cm (39 in) as opposed to 35 cm (13.8 in). Male ibex use their horns for confrontation and fighting during the breeding season.
An expert climber, the ibex tends to live on the snowline of mountains with steep terrain. They are social animals, although males and females usually form separate groups except for in the breeding season. Ibex are strictly herbivorous, with the majority of their diet consisting of grass, although they will also eat mosses, leaves and twigs
Zoo Tycoon[]
The ibex is an adoptable animal in Zoo Tycoon and is available in the base game. In Freeform mode, it is not obtainable until September 1st.
The ibex is an alpine animal and requires a hilly exhibit. Its main terrain is Gray Stone, and it also requires snow and plenty of rocks.
Zoo Tycoon 2[]
The ibex is an adoptable animal in Zoo Tycoon 2 and is available in the base game. In Campaign and Challenge mode, it is unlocked after reaching 1.5 stars.
Once again, the ibex is an alpine animal, although it also tolerates tundra and boreal forest biomes. Males will use a scratching post if it is provided.
