The Loch Ness Monster (Scottish Gaelic Niseag) is a large cryptid said to live in Europe. It is an adoptable animal in Zoo Tycoon.

Description[]

The Loch Ness Monster, popularly known as Nessie, is an aquatic cryptid said to inhabit Loch Ness, a large freshwater lake in Scotland, United Kingdom. Most depictions of the monster portray it as a large animal with a long neck and at least one hump on its back. Based on these depictions, it would physically resemble an extinct plesiosaur.

The earliest reports of a monster near the loch date back to the sixth century A.D., where the Irish monk Saint Columba reportedly encountered a "water beast" that had been attacking the local Picts. Various other sightings occurred in the late 1800s, but it would not be until 1933 when the monster was bought to worldwide attention, when one was reported to be seen crossing a road towards the loch. Since then, many sightings have been claimed, although none are definitive and many were found to be hoaxes. Many possible identities have been put forward, including unusually large eels, circus elephants swimming in the loch or even simply broken tree branches.

Zoo Tycoon[]

The Loch Ness Monster is an adoptable animal in Zoo Tycoon. It is a downloadable animal that was included as part of the Endangered Species Theme Pack and is classed as a Dinosaur Digs animal. In-game, it resembles a Plesiosaurus, but is much larger, with a purple and blue coloration.

The Loch Ness Monster is an Aquatic animal, but unlike all other aquatic animals, it requires Fresh Water in its exhibit, rather than salt water. It also requires sand and brown stone for land. The Loch Ness Monster is also compatible with tanks, provided the water is changed from salt water to fresh water. The Loch Ness Monster can tolerate a variety of plants and rocks, including the water lily, horsetail and Ocean Floor Rocks.

Like all Dinosaur Digs reptiles, the Loch Ness Monster will lay a single egg. It will take thirteen days for the Loch Ness Monster to hatch and six months for it to grow to adult size. It has a lifespan of 3 years all together.
