The Mexican Gray Wolf (Canis lupus baileyi) is a large North American canid. It is an adoptable animal in Zoo Tycoon

Description[]

The Mexican Gray Wolf, or Lobo is a subspecies of the Gray Wolf. The Gray Wolf is the largest member of the canid family, with the Mexican Gray Wolf being one of the smaller subspecies. Despite their name, Mexican gray wolves have a yellowish gray and clouded coloration, with black markings over the back and tail. Wolves are highly social, living in large packs that can have up to twenty individuals, although 5-12 animals are most common. These packs are lead by a dominant male and female, who are the only individuals allowed to breed. Other pack members will care for their pups.

As its name suggests, Mexican gray wolves are primarily found in northern Mexico, as well as the US states of Arizona and New Mexico. They are carnivorous and will eat anything they can catch. Hunted and poisoned to near-extinction during the mid-1900s, the Mexican gray wolf was listed under the Endangered Species Act in 1976, the last remaining individuals were captured for a captive breeding program. Although this program has boosted the wolf's numbers, it remains the most endangered of the gray wolf subspecies in North America.

Zoo Tycoon[]

The Mexican gray wolf is an adoptable animal in Zoo Tycoon. It was originally part of its own download pack (The Mexican Wolf & Theme Pack), before being bundled in with the Endangered Species Theme Pack[1].

The Mexican gray wolf is a Deciduous Forest animal. Like all wolves, it is highly social. Despite it being a subspecies of the in-game Gray Wolf, it will not kill any other animals in-game. Mexican wolves can even be comfortably housed with Moose.
