Description[]
The Nile Crocodile is believed to be the second-largest extant member of the crocodile family. Males can reach a length of up to 5 meters (16.4 feet), but larger specimens have been reported. The Nile crocodile can be found throughout sub-Saharan Africa in a wide range of aquatic habitats and is believed to be the most common crocodile on the continent.
Like most crocodiles, Nile crocodiles are opportunistic ambush hunters that will eat anything they can catch, from fish and insects to large ungulates. They typically wait by the water's edge and ambush prey as they come down to drink, sometimes waiting for weeks. Their large jaws can produce one of the strongest bite forces in the animal kingdom, preventing its prey from escaping while the crocodile drowns it. Although they hunt alone, Nile crocodiles are quite social and will often gather in groups to bask.
Zoo Tycoon 2[]
The Nile crocodile is an adoptable animal in Zoo Tycoon 2. In all modes except Freeform, it is obtainable after acquiring 1.5 stars of fame. The Nile crocodile is an aquatic reptile that lives in the wetlands biome, while tolerating savannah, scrub, and temperate forest to an extent.
Diet[]
They will eat meat and fish, like most predators in the game. It cannot feed from a trough, but it can feed from dishes and carcass feeders.
Enrichment[]
In the original game, the only enrichment the animal could use was the beef shank. However, the stuffed prey dummy and beef holiday present that were shortly added to the game as bonus downloads can be used by crocodiles. Nile crocodiles can also hunt and eat all varieties of live food, including the Live Food Lizard, the Arctic Cod, and the Yellowfin Tuna.
Shelter[]
Crocodiles do not use a shelter. Instead, they require deep water to satisfy their privacy need.

| The Nile crocodile is the largest predator in Africa and also one of the most ferocious. It lurks around water holes and prowls rivers and canals in search of game, taking nearly any animal it can grasp, drown, and swallow. Crocodiles swallow many small animals whole and will also attack humans and other large animals, often batting them into a nearby pool of water with their tail to make them easier to capture. Crocodiles can close off their nasal passages in the water, allowing them to seize food without drowning. They are immensely strong and may dismember larger prey by simply twisting it to death in the water. |
