The Snow Leopard (Panthera uncia, formerly Uncia uncia) is a mid-sized Asian felid. It is an adoptable animal in Zoo Tycoon, Zoo Tycoon 2, Zoo Tycoon DS and Zoo Tycoon: The Board Game.
Description[]
The Snow Leopard is a member of the big cat family, native to Central and South Asia, that is adapted for living on mountains. It has a thick layer of soft under-fur covered by thick, long hair. Its fur is pale gray, with black rosettes and small spots, and a black streak along the spine provides camouflage in its mountainous habitat. The snow leopard has wide, furry paws that serve as snowshoes, preventing it from sinking into the snow. Compared with other big cats, it has comparatively short legs and a long tail, up to 105cm (41in) in length, which is uses for balance.
Snow leopards roam large territories across various mountainous regions, including the Himalayas. They typically hunt wild sheep and goats, often chasing them for up to 300 down steep mountainsides, but will eat anything they can find, including carrion. Like most cats, they are solitary, with adults coming together only to mate. Like many cat species, snow leopard numbers are in decline due to hunting for their fur and poaching by farmers.

The snow leopard is a Highland animal and primarily requires gray stone and snow terrain in its exhibit. Like all Highland animals, it also likes elevation in its exhibit, as well as trees and rocks. They are hard to please and require a very suitable exhibit for them to be happy. If a snow leopard gives birth, a cash grant will be awarded.
The only trees the snow leopard likes are the Himalayan Birch Tree and the Himalayan Pine Tree, the Himalayan Pine Tree giving the most suitability and being the animal's favourite foliage. The snow leopard prefers Small or Medium Snowy Rocks, and the Highland Rock Formation is required to 100% the snow leopard's habitat suitability.
Zoo Tycoon 2[]
The snow leopard is an adoptable animal in Zoo Tycoon 2 and is available in the base game. In Campaign and Challenge mode, it is available for adoption when a zoo reaches a rating of 4 stars.
The snow leopard lives in the alpine biome, they are carnivorous and feed on meat and fish. They will use a variety of enrichment items, such as balls, live food and the Stuffed Prey Dummy. Snow leopards will also use a variety of shelters as well, such as the caves, shade structure, Kopje, and wood shelters.

The snow leopard is an adoptable animal in Zoo Tycoon: The Board Game. It is classed as a Montane Forest Carnivore and is represented by its own meeple.
The snow leopard is a Level 2 animal and as such, it can only be adopted if all other species present in the zoo are sufficiently happy. It is not a social animal and can only be exhibited on its own or as a mated pair. It is one of only three animals, the others being the American Black Bear and the Tiger, whose popularity value increases depending on the number of animals present. Despite only tolerating a maximum of two individuals, the snow leopard requires a large enclosure with sufficient free space. A female will give birth to two offspring if sufficiently happy and will nurture them.
The snow leopard is also part of the Wolong National Park conservation project, alongside the Giant Panda, Red Panda and Bearded Vulture.
