The West African Lion (Panthera leo leo, formerly Panthera leo senegalensis) is a population of lion that is found in West Africa. It is an adoptable animal in Zoo Tycoon (Xbox).
Description[]
The West African Lion, also known as the Senegal Lion, is a lion population native to West Africa. West African Lions were found from Senegal to the Central African Republic and as far South as the Republic of Congo. Today, this population is fragmented and was labeled as critically endangered before it was lumped into the Northern Lion subspecies in 2017. West African lions tend to live in more arid environments and males have smaller, thin manes, if any at all. West African lions in captivity, however, will often grow much fuller, thicker manes due to being generally more healthy.

The West African Lion is an adoptable animal in Zoo Tycoon (Xbox) and is available in the base game. It is available for adoption when a zoo reaches a fame level of four.
