Zoo Tycoon 2: Ultimate Collection is a compilation pack for Zoo Tycoon 2 released on September 30th, 2008 for PC platforms. It includes Zoo Tycoon 2, and its four expansion packs: Endangered Species, African Adventure, Marine Mania, Extinct Animals, including the official Microsoft/Blue Fang custom content (Except for the Asiatic Black Bear). The Ultimate Collection also includes the Dino Danger Pack downloaded content, as well as a new menu theme.
Disc Formatting[]
Not long after the compilation was released, there were instances of a disc formatting issue where the third disc was exactly like the second one.
The Zoo Tycoon website responded:
"In light of a few instances of a disc formatting issue with Zoo Tycoon 2: Ultimate Collection (SKU# AXB-00033/UPC# 882224717298), Microsoft is immediately replacing the game. We are providing the correct disc to customers who believe they have obtained a copy of Zoo Tycoon 2: Ultimate Collection with the formatting issue. Customers simply need to call the toll-free customer service hotline at 1-800-360-7561 to receive a replacement disc for the game. We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused, and appreciate your patience as we work quickly to resolve the issue."
Licensed to Ubisoft[]
Ubisoft PC-DVD re-release
Microsoft subsequently licensed Zoo Tycoon 2: Ultimate Collection to Ubisoft, who re-released the game under its "Exclusive" value brand in multiple territories and in a variety of formats, including a single disc DVD-ROM version for Windows PC.

- Strangely, the elephant seal is mentioned in the game's description on the official website's "About Zoo Tycoon 2" page, despite the animal itself only appearing in the first game's Marine Mania.
